In celebration of The Asia Pacific Triennial exhibition now showing at QAGOMA, artist Elysha Rei has created a 25-metre long paper hand-cut snake titled, 静寂 (Seijaku): Serenity, on display at Podium Level 1 of Brisbane Quarter from 24 January to 8 March 2025.
The tranquil beauty of the Australian Tree Snake at rest embodies serenity and transformation. With 2025 being the lunar year of the ‘wood’ snake, 静寂 (Seijaku): Serenity connects to this through the representation of the Australian Tree Snake.
The artist invites Brisbane Quarter visitors to embrace a moment of contemplation as they scale their eyes over the details of the serpent, thinking about the transformation of their year ahead.24 Jan – 8 Mar 2025 at Brisbane Quarter, 300 George Street.
